China... More than 1,700 deaths from CORONA virus
China's National Health Committee announced Monday that it has received reports of 2,048 new confirmed cases of the new CORONA virus and 105 new deaths from 31 provinces.
Of the deaths, 100 were in Khubi Province, 3 in Henan Province and two in Guangdong Province, while 1,563 new suspected cases were reported last Sunday, the committee said. It added 1,425 people discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of serious cases dropped by 628 to 10,644.
The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 70,548 as of the end of yesterday, while 1,770 people had died as a result of the epidemic.
The Committee added that 7,264 people were still suspected of contracting the virus.
A total of 10,844 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery.
The committee said that 546,016 people in close contact with injured patients had been tracked down, including 28,179 who left the medical note on Sunday, and another 150,539 remained under medical observation.
By the end of last Sunday, 57 cases had been reported, including one death in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 10 in the Macao Special Administrative Region and 20 in Taiwan.
Two patients in Hong Kong, five in Macao and two in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after recovering.
